Turvassa Tiellä is the Finnish motorsport authority’s national road safety programme that started at the beginning of 2013 and is also a part of the international motorsport authority’s FIA Action for Road Safety campaign. The programme provides road safety education in Finnish lower and upper secondary schools via free educational visits, with the aim of preventing youth traffic accidents and deaths.
The Turvassa Tiellä core message is that the thrill of speed is best enjoyed only in controlled environments, when competing or as a hobby – even one racing-like manoeuvre in traffic is too much!
Patrons of the programme include several Finnish sports stars, such as Valtteri Bottas, Mika Häkkinen, Esapekka Lappi, Mikael Forssell, Leo-Pekka Tähti, Kaisa Mäkäräinen, Miro Heiskanen and Matti Suur-Hamari.
Partners of the road safety programme are the Finnish Driving School Association, the Police of Finland, Nokian Tyres, Neste, Lasol, Mercedes-Benz Finland, SGN (Allright.eu), NEP Finland, Finnish Motorcycling Federation (SML) and the “Moottoripaja” project of the Young Church Association.
The Turvassa Tiellä stand can be found at the Paviljonki WRC Square, where you can make your own road safety promise, just like the Turvassa Tiellä patrons, and take part in the Turvassa Tiellä competition.
